Can you play PSP games on PS Vita?

Can I ask, is it possible to enjoy the classic PSP games on the PS Vita handheld system? I've heard rumors that the Vita has some backwards compatibility, but I'm not entirely sure if that extends to playing PSP games directly on the device. Is there a specific process or requirement that needs to be met in order to play PSP titles on the Vita, or are there any limitations I should be aware of? It would be great if I could continue my PSP gaming journey on the Vita, so I'm really hoping for a positive answer!
