What is a behavior intervention team?

Could you please explain to me what a behavior intervention team is, and what their primary role and responsibilities are within an educational setting? I'm particularly interested in understanding how they work to identify and address problematic behaviors in students, and how they collaborate with other school staff to ensure the safety and well-being of all students.
