Can you shower with an Ace bandage?

Can you really shower with an Ace bandage wrapped around your body? I'm curious to know if the material used to make the bandage is water-resistant or if it's going to lose its effectiveness if it gets wet. I also want to know if it's SAFE to shower with the bandage on, considering that it's designed to provide support and compression to an injured area. I understand that getting clean is important, but I don't want to risk aggravating my injury or making it worse. So, can you safely shower with an Ace bandage, or should you remove it before getting in the shower?
