Can I sell a delisted stock?

I have some shares of a company that was once listed on the stock market, but has now been delisted. I'm wondering if it's still possible for me to sell these shares, and if so, how would I go about doing it? Can I sell a delisted stock?

OTC transactions, despite being restricted by some brokerages, do not hinder the ability to sell delisted stocks. The process of selling a delisted stock is quite similar to selling a stock that is actively traded on an exchange. This similarity in selling process ensures that investors can liquidate their holdings even after a stock has been delisted.

A delisted stock's journey does not end with its removal from an exchange. Instead, it can continue to trade in the over-the-counter market for an extended period. This alternative trading venue provides a platform for investors to buy and sell shares of delisted companies, ensuring that the stock remains liquid and accessible.

The over-the-counter market plays a crucial role in the life cycle of a delisted stock. It serves as a bridge, connecting investors who wish to buy or sell shares with each other, even after the stock has ceased to be listed on a major exchange. This market's existence ensures that the stock's trading history does not abruptly end with delisting.

Trading delisted stocks over the counter can continue for years, offering investors an ongoing opportunity to participate in the market. This extended trading window allows for a more gradual transition for investors, who can sell their shares at a time that suits them, rather than being forced to liquidate immediately upon delisting.
