Ukrainian coins originate from the country's independence after the collapse of the Soviet Union in 1991. The first series of coins were issued in 1992, with the official currency being the hryvnia, and its subunit, the kopiyka or 'gobi'. Recently, there have been discussions to rename the subunit to remove traces of Russian influence. Where do Ukrainian coins come from?
